Au Pair in Iceland

Age: 18 – 27 years (European Union), 18-25 other nationalities.
Duration: 6 – 12 months
Working hours: max. 30 hours per week.
Holidays: You get one holiday week for each 26 weeks of work.
Travel costs: You need to pay for the a travel costs and visa expenses (if needed).
Insurance: If you come from a European Union member country you can be insured by the European Health Insurance Card. If you come from a different country, you need to get a private insurance.
Pocket money: around 80 euros per week.
Visa requirements:
EU citizens do not need a visa. If you have a different nationality you require the Au Pair visa.

Au Pair in Iceland – Visa application and residence permit

You do not need a visa if you have a passport from any EU country. In any other case, you can apply for the Au Pair visa to Iceland. The general requirements for the visa are:

Age: 18 – 25
Au Pair contract
Valid passport
Not having a criminal record
Housing certificate (this document is sent to you by the Host Family)
Document that proves the family can cover your daily expenses
Insurance valid for at least 6 months (must be issued by an insurance company licensed to operate in Iceland)
