Facts about Au-Pair New Zealand
- Age: 18-30 years
- Length of stay: 6-12 months
- Working time: 25-40 hours a week. In addition 1-2 nights of babysitting per week.
- Holidays: 2 weeks paid holiday in a 6 months stay. You have a free day each week.
- Travel costs: You must pay for your own visa and travel expenses.
- Insurance: Covered by the Au-Pair
- Pocket money: 150-200 NZ $ per week

1. Application
Option 1: send the application to the agency and wait for their confirmation and more details from your agency. Once you have gathered all the documents, the agency will send your profile to their partner in New Zealand and start the search for a Host Family.
Option 2: create a profile on AuPair.com and write a letter to your future Host Family.
2. Looking for a Host Family
Option 1: the Au-Pair agency in New Zealand will send your profile to possible Host Families.
Option 2: AuPair.com will send you a list with matching Host Families. You will also have the opportunity to browse through Host Family profiles on your own.
3. Placement
Option 1: if the Host Family is interested, the agency will send you their application so you can plan a video call. If you reach an agreement, congratulations!
Option 2: in case the Host family is interested, they will schedule a video interview with you to learn more about you. Discuss the conditions of the stay until you agree on all points.
4. Visa
Check all the requirements and apply for the Working Holiday visa.
5. Travel to New Zealand

You can be an Au-Pair in New Zealand if you are between 18-30 years and your country has a Working Holiday agreement. If you have a passport from any of the following countries you can apply for the visa:
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.
Asia: China, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam.
America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, United States.
The visa application can be made online. You need to pay the application fee and in some cases, you need to provide some extra documents. According to the official regulations, you also need to show at least NZ $4,200 in a bank account. The money is needed in case you cannot find a job during your time in New Zealand. The visa is processed within 25 days.
Keep in mind that you need to get private insurance to be safe during your stay in New Zealand and also to get the visa.

For all those who want to discover the world, most agencies offer free information events where the Au-Pair program is presented.
In order to be optimally prepared for a stay as an Au-Pair, you can join one of these workshops. Here you will learn interesting facts about a day in the life of an Au-Pair, get ideas for games and solutions for homesickness or other possible conflict situations. You can also talk about your expectations and fears and exchange ideas with other future participants.
